چکیده

We have fabricated a sub-micron-sized structure consisting of an InAs-based 2DEG, two narrow Nb leads and a gate, where the indirect ballistic transport between the non-oppositely superconducting contacts can be controlled by the voltage applied to the gate. This new kind of tuneable junction can be used for applications and allows several fundamental questions related to the transport mechanism to be studied. First results of experiments carried out in this respect are presented. pacs[74.40+k,74.50.+r]

Angle dependence of Andreev scattering at semiconductor–superconductor interfaces

We study the angle dependence of the Andreev scattering at a semiconductor– superconductor interface, generalizing the one-dimensional theory of Blonder, Tinkham and Klapwijk. An increase of the momentum parallel to the interface leads to suppression of the probability of Andreev reflection and increase of the probability of normal reflection. We show that in the presence of a Fermi velocity mi...

Shot-noise and conductance measurements of transparent superconductor/two-dimensional electron gas junctions

We have measured the conductance and shot noise of superconductor-normal metal S-N junctions between a niobium Nb film and a two-dimensional electron gas 2DEG , formed in an InAs-based semiconductor heterostructure. Adjacent to the junction, the 2DEG is shaped into a sub-micrometer beam splitter. The current shot noise measured through one arm of the beam splitter is found to be enhanced due to...

The transport properties of a ferromagnet–superconductor (FS) junction are studied in a scattering formulation. Andreev reflection at the FS interface is strongly affected by the exchange interaction in the ferromagnet. The conductance GFS of a ballistic point contact between F and S can be both larger or smaller than the value GFN with the superconductor in the normal state, depending on the r...

Shot noise of large charge quanta in superconductor/semiconductor/superconductor junctions

We have found experimentally that the noise of ballistic electron transport in a superconductor/ semiconductor/superconductor junction is enhanced relative to the value given by the general relation, SV=2eIR 2 cothseV /2kTd, for two voltage regions in which this expression reduces to its thermal and shot noise limits. The noise enhancement is explained by the presence of large charge quanta, wi...

Side-gate modulation of critical current in mesoscopic Josephson junction

We study the normal state conductance and the Josephson current in a superconductor-2DEG-superconductor structure where the size/shape of the 2DEG-region can be modified by an additional side-gate electrode. The considered transport properties follow from the retarded Green function which we compute by employing a tight-binding-like representation of the Hamiltonian in the 2DEG region. Our mode...
